On Sunday, March 20th, the Farmer’s Cow Calfé & Creamery was featured on “This Week in Connecticut with Dennis House,” on TV Channel 8 WTNH.
Dennis and the WTNH team first discovered The Farmer’s Cow, the FC Development Corp., and the Farmer’s Cow Calfé & Creamery partnerships and projects this past month when the Farmer’s Cow Calfé & Creamery won the Connecticut Magazine’s annual Readers’ Choice Awards for Top 10 Best Lunch as well as Top 10 Connecticut Hidden Gem. The segment captured the history of the affiliated organizations and set the stage for the current and upcoming expansion plans of the Farmer’s Cow Calfé & Creamery, as well as those of the Farmer’s Cow co-op and its various partner organizations.
The segment opened with House, “You see the name Farmer’s Cow in the dairy section of your grocery store, but did you know, they have a little restaurant that could perhaps one day be all over the country…” The segment goes on to provide coverage on FC Development Corp. CEO Edwin Molina; Jim Smith; chairman of The Farmer’s Cow LLC; and Kathy Smith of Cushman Farms — one of the six co-op farms comprising the Farmer’s Cow brand.
“I saw an opportunity to work with people that are trustworthy, that have a heart to serve people, have a heart to serve the community, have a heart to build into the community…” Molina said, adding, “we see the future as an opportunity where you have farm-to-table, locally-sourced food; where you have quick service restaurants that are feeding good food to the community and the opportunity to build out in a sector that is amazingly growing out, straight up.”
The special goes on to cover our partnership with the Farmer’s Cow co-op members and the vision to turn the Farmer’s Cow Calfé & Creamery into one of the best-run and community-supportive farm-to-table restaurant chains in New England, with expansion plans being implemented throughout the country — ensuring that our mission of connecting the community to the land by supporting local farmers and local artisans is a true success. “Supporting this you’re supporting the products that the farmers produce, so the customer is also supporting the local community…” said Kathy Smith, “it’s amazing to think that it (the Calfé) could grow, but that’s what farming is all about, growing things right?”
House discussed the growth opportunity with Molina, asking, “So you see Farmer’s Cow nationwide?” At which Molina responded, “I see Farmer’s Cow going out throughout New England, and hopefully nationwide.”
